Which GPU is best for your Gaming PC? Well, let’s take a look at what we know.<br><br><strong></strong></p><p><strong><br data-mce-bogus='1'></strong></p><p><strong>What they showed on stream<br><br></strong></p><p>AMD’s Radeon RX 7000 Series (Not to be confused with AMD’s older Radeon HD 7000 Series from 2012) were only recently teased, with a live stream on YouTube following suit to unveil additional information. While we weren’t expecting a world of information on the stream, we did get some key aspects to take a look at and cover here. If you’re looking for a much deeper nuanced level of technological aspects, be sure to check out AMD’s site directly.</p><p><br></p><p>Currently the upcoming Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24GB and 7900 XT 20GB are the only two officially announced and are reporting an over 50% improvement by performance per watt than previous gen Radeon Graphics. They explain further that the RDNA 3 compute die will contain a new display engine and dual media engine claiming they have “Used 5nm to the fullest.” Going back to performance the RTX 7900 XTX is reportedly up to 1.7x faster than their prior premium GPU the RX 6950 XT. Operating at 2.3GHz and requiring just 355W as well. Likewise, the 7900 XT (No that’s not a typo) operates at 2GHz with a capacity of 20GB of DDR6</p><p><br></p><p>AMD have stated these are the first chip-let based gaming GPUs, allowing a modular approach similar to the Zen4 Ryzen 7000 Series of CPUs. With a compute die of 5nm, containing “all of the high-performance compute in the GPU” they’ve packed in a Display Engine, Shader Cache, and all new Media Engine. The second die built on a 6nm process holds the Memory Cache, including the GDDR6 controller.</p><p><br></p><p>In direct comparison to the newest line of Nvidia cards, AMD have stated that the RX 7000 series will not need a new PSU, or a four-pin adapter, and are expected to fit into a larger variety of chassis than their targeted competition. It appears that for now both manufacturers are targeting the extreme high-end of the market, while we can’t know for certain we hope to see highly competitive metrics on some of the more mid-range products from both companies. And of course, how those will match up with Intel’s new and upcoming ARC GPUs.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Time will tell<br><br></strong></p><p>While the performance metrics and competitive price points ($899 and $999 respectively) sound highly appealing, we may see Nvidia and even the “newcomer” Intel unveil cards or major updates to spar with AMD’s newest RX Radeon series here soon.
