Rich’s initial attempt to build a $15,000 gaming PC was exciting but ultimately, we recommended reviewing a system a little more plausible for the average consumer. For those curious we have built $15,000+ PCs before but you’re looking at the ultra custom and unique at that price point. Fortunately, at a much tamer price of $7,000 you’re still getting a premium and custom machine of your design. This review unit includes custom paint work to boot!

As Rich points out we offer more than a handful of pre-configured options, an important note however is you can choose a configuration and adjust if you desire. However, the main draw and focus has always been our full customization options available in our custom configurator. Starting with the CLX towers Set, Scarab, Horus, and Ra you begin with a selecting a chassis and build out your entire system down to the very last component. While there’s been some major updates since September 2021 when the original article was posted, XDA Developers do a great show of showing off the configurator step by step in their article.

One thing that we like to make clear is how our gaming PCs are built, in that we use industry standard modular components and what that means for you. CLX PCs come with a lifetime labor and technical support warranty and are built from readily available and swappable components. This has a huge benefit for the longevity and lifetime of a CLX PC, as it allows us to assist in all kinds of support and upgrades down the road. You don’t have to worry about a component going rogue and bricking your entire system as it can easily be interchanged with a replacement, an option not always available with other system builders.

Interestingly this article doesn’t home in too much on performance upfront. And while the idea that it contains an i9-11900k and an Nvidia RTX 3090 and won’t need testing is fair, we appreciate the benchmarks ran regardless. You see while the space theme we offered in 2021 is awesome, how a PC runs even with “standard” components takes a lot more work than one would expect. Manual overclocking, temperature management, bios and driver optimizations, and even cable management are all related. This can be a ton of work depending on the system, and we handle it all for you taking the stress of PC building out of the equation.

While taking an overview of the build XDA Developer’s writer Rich notes that we included all the packaging that comes with the Motherboard. This was no coincidence, and we include all additional pieces available with your components, including mounts and stands for different chassis configurations. Should you want to change up your system later on, you will have the relevant assets needed to do so. As Rich states “If I was buying a custom gaming PC, I’d go with a CLX. You’re pretty much building a PC without the work of building a PC. Some might say that the build is part of the experience, and for those people, you can still go and build your own PC.” And in being fair as all reviewers should he notes that a potential con is how long it’s going to take to get your PC. Realistically that’s true, it takes time to build and test a PC, especially with custom paint and the like. However we take pride in our turn around and shipping times, and would like to clarify that 3 months for a custom review unit is a pretty unique delay.

But at the end of the day seeing is believing and while Rich Woods’ article is a wonderful perspective on how we do things, we always recommend experiencing it yourself. Head on over to our pre-configured options or selection of base models and try out configuring your dream PC today!
