Loved for its high skill cap, great gun mechanics, and overall satisfying gameplay, this title took the PC gaming world by storm when it originally dropped in summer of 2016. While it has since been overshadowed by a slew of other battle royale games such as Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty: Warzone, the game has maintained a large and thriving playerbase. It also still enjoys an active professional scene as the mechanics of the game hold up well, offering consistency and a generous skill gap to evolve within. However, according to most fans, the game has seen better days. While the core fundamentals of the game haven’t changed all that much, there is a sense of staleness setting in, and not all of the recent updates have been met with approval. One of the biggest concerns has been the prolific use of bots, or AI controlled players. These have been used to create fuller lobbies when player numbers are low on certain servers, but their presence detracts from the feel of the game. It looks as though PUBG could be seeing new life as 2021 progresses, with several intriguing updates and a melange of rumors floating around. Below we’ll take a quick look at what we know about the future of PUBG and also discuss why one of our CLX Set gaming PCs might be the perfect way to experience this classic battle royale once this new content drops.<h2> </h2><h2> </h2><h2>New Maps on the Horizon</h2> Originally, the action in PUBG played out on a large and not very optimized map known as Erangel. Despite its large open spaces and obscure choke points, it was generally loved by the community and remains one of the most popular maps in the game to this day. However, as the game grew, additional maps were added, such as Miramar (desert themed), Vikendi (snow themed), and Sanhok (a smaller map with a tropical environment). These maps each have their own unique benefits and varying amounts of community support. For instance, Miramar is said to have better city layouts and a more dynamic feel than Erangel, yet the latter map is still preferred due to Miramar’s lack of cover and awkward areas. Generally, given the massive size of the PUBG maps, it’s been hard to find a workable middle ground that appeases everyone. What most of the community has agreed on as of late is the desperate need for a new large-scale map. Not since Miramar, which dropped over three years ago, has the game seen a brand new 8x8 km map. That is all about to change, with Taego, a new full-size map that is set to launch on July 7th of this year. Players are considering this new map a return to PUBG’s roots, as the flow and feel of this map is highly reminiscent of Erangel. Not much else is known about the new map at this point, but there are a variety of other features and updates that are thought to be arriving alongside the map. Based on the tiny teaser trailer that has been released, these may include a self-revive feature, as well as a new chopper to play around with. New guns might be coming too, a 5.56 DMR and a new 5.56 assault rifle. This content alone might be enough to give PUBG a much-needed jolt, but additional rumors surrounding an even bigger project are worth taking a look at as well.<h2> </h2><h2> </h2><h2>What is PUBG: Project RE:BORN?</h2> For months, there has been speculation over whether or not PUBG was getting a sequel. Known only as “Project RE:BORN,” questionable information about this game has been making the rounds on the Internet, with very little in the way of substance to back it all up. However, there is strong evidence to suggest that these new updates and ones that are slated for release later this year (including yet another new map!) are actually parts of what would have been a now-scrapped sequel. Taego would appear to be involved with this scrapped title, and the upcoming map codenamed “Kiki” is as well. Other anticipated features such as PC to console cross-play are also rumored to be a part of these updates. Not much else is known about what the future holds for PUBG at this point but we will be keeping a close eye on Taego and all of the content that comes with it once it drops.<h2> </h2><h2> </h2><h2>Enjoying PUBG The Best Way Possible</h2> PUBG has seen its fair share of graphical updates over the years. In fact, maps have been given new life periodically as drastic changes have been made to texture packs and lighting in order to give the game a much more realistic look and modern feel. However, with any graphical update comes the need for additional performance power. Although it is widely known that release-day PUBG was not well optimized, the additional details in the graphics over the years, along with truckloads of new content, has reinforced the need for a quality gaming computer that has a solid GPU and processor.
