Biomutant is a unique, stylized role playing game set in a lush and fantastical world that gives off decidedly old-school gaming vibes. While there are no shortage of worthwhile action RPGs out there these days, this title stands out with eye-catching graphics, a different take on character creation, flexible martial art combat that combines both melee and various powers that are acquired through mutations. This stylish game is “next-gen” through and through, however, with hefty system requirements that may make you want to think about updating your PC specs or investing in a sleek mini tower PC to go along with such an eye-catching game. We’re going to dive in for a closer look at what Biomutant has to offer and also give you our recommendation for a suitable gaming PC that will allow you to get in on the fun once this title drops. <h2>Back From The Ashes</h2> One point worth mentioning about Biomutant is that until recently, it’s fate was up in the air. This title was originally slated for 2019, but for reasons that are still not entirely clear, its development period was extended. COVID likely didn’t help matters much, as 2020 slowed production on many other titles as well. Since the game was being developed from a smaller company out of Sweden and was largely an unknown, many gamers lost faith that the game would launch at all. However, publisher THQ Nordic announced its release date back in January of this year, reigniting hype for the game. These days, extensive game delays almost always infer massive problems, including reams of bugs and other issues that promise chaos at launch. However, it seems the opposite is true in the case of Biomutant, as the extra time has given incredible polish to the game from what we can see. <h2>A Gorgeous Open World</h2> As for the features of the game itself, one of the most immediately notable elements is the beautiful stylized graphics and open world environment. Much in the vein of a game like Breath of the Wild, Biomutant seems to have an incredibly unique cartoon graphics style that is vibrant, detailed, and deliciously old school. The game takes place in a proclaimed “post-apocalyptic” setting, but unlike many games that boast such environments, this is not another drab, barren, or overly-mechanical wasteland. Instead, we are treated to a variety of surreal landscapes, from villages overgrown with greenery to aesthetic ruins, cheery grasslands, atmospheric dungeons, and inviting shorelines. While graphics aren’t everything, when a world is as incredibly detailed as this, it’s typically a good sign. Being able to fully immerse yourself in the gaming experience is a whole lot easier with a rich, colorful, and organic-looking environment. It’s also worth pointing out that this open world is rumored to be rather large, at 4x4km. Certainly not groundbreaking by any means compared to the massive open worlds we have access to these days, but nonetheless impressive for a game as stylized and detailed as this. <h2>Unique Gameplay Elements</h2> Unlike many cartoony action RPGs, where the combat takes somewhat of a backseat to the RPG elements, this game seems to want to shake things up a bit. The combat has been described as almost being <a href='https://www.pcgamer.com/biomutant-release-date-everything-we-know/' data-mce-href='https://www.pcgamer.com/biomutant-release-date-everything-we-know/'>Devil-May-Cry-esque</a>, with a wide range of movement and various combinations you can execute. There is also an incredibly in-depth crafting system that apparently allows you to make a wide range of interesting-looking gear out of any kind of junk you happen to come across. It’s not entirely known at present just how the crafting system will work in its entirety, but it seems to be rather robust. Another gameplay feature to note is the unique take on character creation. In Biomutant, the various physical features your character possesses will somehow determine their stats, and from what we know, it would appear as though this mechanic is extremely in-depth, with a wide variety of different styles of critters to create. When you add in the fact that the entire game seems to have an underlying Kung-Fu vibe going on, with martial arts driving the combat and even music that seems inspired from the genre, the entire package seems promising. The developers themselves describe the title as a “Kung-fu fable,” even. <h2>A Stylish Gaming Desktop That’s Perfect For Biomutant</h2> If you have been waiting for a solid action RPG like this to drop on PC but aren’t sure if your current gaming computer is up to the task of running Biomutant, it may be time for a switch.
